Founding partner Jesse Butler is a state-wide leader in the legal profession, who frequently serves as a lecturer and expert on attorney ethics and malpractice. He has served on numerous committees of The Florida Bar that create and enforce the rules of attorney ethics and professionalism, including the Disciplinary Review Committee, Disciplinary Procedure Committee, Review Committee on Professional Ethics, and the Certification Plan Appeals Committee. He has also served as the Designated Reviewer for multiple grievance committees.

Mr. Butler has represented individuals, businesses, trustees, personal representatives, insurance companies, and municipalities in high-stakes legal malpractice claims. He has recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of his clients in malpractice cases arising out of attorney negligence in real estate transactions, estate planning, tax advice, business litigation, family law, bankruptcy claims, probate and trust disputes, personal injury and wrongful death claims, immigration matters, and a wide-variety of other substantive practice areas in which an attorney’s negligence resulted in serious client harm.

Prior to co-founding Butler Legacy & Litigation, Jesse was a shareholder at one of the most well-established litigation firms in Southwest Florida, where he chaired the firm’s professional liability and legal malpractice department. He is regularly consulted by other attorneys in legal malpractice matters, and is one of the few attorneys in Florida whose practice is focused on representing plaintiffs in legal malpractice cases.
