ELDER FRAUD & ABUSE

  • I am afraid that an elderly family member or friend is being abused or neglected.  How can we protect them?

  • I think a vulnerable loved one has been financially exploited by a caregiver, family member, or business. Is there anything that can be done?

  • I believe a confused elderly family member may be getting conned by an online fraudster. How can we help?

Florida tops all states in the percentage of seniors 60 and over - almost a quarter of the state’s population.

Unfortunately, elderly individuals are vulnerable to exploitation by friends, family, or caretakers.  Statistically, one in every five individuals over 65 will be the victim of financial fraud. Elderly individuals can also be the victims of neglect, since they are often unable to provide for their own care and activities of daily living. When an abused or vulnerable adult is being exploited, neglected, or abused, there may be actions that can be taken to protect the victim, including emergency petitions to the court, to protect their health, assets, and safety.

If you are concerned for an elderly family member or friend, we can help.  We can explore all available options to ensure that the appropriate level of care and oversight is in place to protect the elderly individual. In addition, we will explore potential legal recourse against all culpable parties, including potential actions to recover misappropriated assets, claims against fiduciaries, and other potential remedies.
